Alan W. Beery, a Director of Client Services at Pitney Bowes Business Insight (PBBI), has been involved in market research projects for more than 25 years. Alan is the Retail Practice Leader for PBBI’s Strategy and Analytics consulting practice and he manages a team of senior client managers. Since joining PBBI in 2000, he has been responsible for managing a wide variety of consulting projects within the retail, restaurant, health care, and financial services industries, including clients such as: IHOP, Jack in the Box, The GAP, Patient First, BJ’s Wholesale, Qdoba, and Helzberg Diamonds. Prior to joining PBBI, he gained extensive experience in the financial services industry managing branch and ATM strategies for a regional bank. Alan holds an MBA from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
Dr. Diepold is an economist who specializes in applied economic analysis with primary areas of research interest in industrial organization and financial markets and institutions. Brian Hill, Restaurant Practice Leader, Predictive Analytics, joined Pitney Bowes Business Insight (PBBI) in September 2006. He has over 19 years of experience in real estate site selection and retail operations having worked directly for major retail and food retailers including Domino’s Pizza, LLC, and subsidiaries of Texaco, Inc. and Shell USA. Brian has the unique perspective of utilizing PBBI’s tools as a client as well as experience creating and managing Predictive Analytics projects. Brian serves as the primary industry manager for all PA projects within the restaurant sector.
He began his career in 1990 with Star Enterprise (a subsidiary of Texaco, Inc.), after attending The Florida State University where he earned bachelor of science and master of science degrees in Communication with an emphasis on Marketing Communication and Consumer Research.
Christopher Cherry is the Director of Communications Industry Strategy at Pitney Bowes Business Insight, a leading provider of location-based solutions, intelligence and expertise to businesses and governments worldwide. Christopher has been analyzing and advising in the communications sector for more than 15 years, and has worked to develop strategies for many of the largest providers. Clarence Hempfield is Director, Analyst Relations & Strategy for Pitney Bowes Business Insight. Hempfield is a certified industry analyst relations professional (CIARP) with extensive experience in global marketing, product management and communications.
Hempfield has over 14 years of experience in the high tech industry. Prior to joining Group 1 Software (now Pitney Bowes Business Insight), he held sales and marketing leadership positions with print industry giants, Xerox and Océ. Hempfield has spent a significant portion of his career in the 1:1 marketing industry, and has presented at many business and document publishing-related events. Deb Purcell is Director of Client Services at Pitney Bowes Business Insights. Devon Wolfe serves as the Managing Director of Strategy and Analytics Services for the Americas for Pitney Bowes Business Insight. In this Ann Arbor, Michigan-based role, he directs all aspects of this consulting practice, leading over 70 employees serving the retail and financial verticals. Devon has been involved in location research for over 20 years, having started as a market analyst at the Walgreen Company of Deerfield, Illinois. He joined Thompson Associates (acquired by MapInfo in 2003) in 1990, and was instrumental in building the company’s retail modeling practice. Most recently, Devon served as Global Practice Leader for Retail, Restaurants, and Real Estate, coordinating the company’s expansion of retail predictive analytics services into Australia and the United Kingdom. Devon is a member of the ICSC Research Task Force. He holds a bachelor’s degree in geography from the University of Chicago.
Ed Borden, Principle Client Service Consultant, joined Pitney Bowes Business Insight (PBBI) in January 2003. Since joining PBBI, he has worked on sales forecasting system development, as well as strategic development analyses for many different clients. His retail clients include The Home Depot, Kohl’s, Jo‐Ann Stores, and Friedman’s Jewelers. Additionally, the urgent care chain, Patient First is a health care client of his. In these roles, he has performed both in an analytic role and in a management capacity. Moreover, for the past four year Ed has lead the public and private sector economic development team for retail market analyzes.
Prior to working at PBBI, Ed completed his Masters Degree in geography at the University of Florida, focusing on business and economic geography with an emphasis on real estate and health care. While working on his MA, Ed served several years on the Development Review Board for the City of Gainesville. Prior to this, he worked for the Northeast Florida Regional Planning Council, assisting with the review of Developments of Regional Impact. With Ed’s experience and educational background in retail site location and planning, he brings a combination of private and public sector expertise to PBBI team that benefits both sides of the equation.
Elizabeth Zachry, a Client Services Consultant with Predictive Analytics, joined Pitney Bowes Business Insight (PBBI) in August 2006. While at PBBI, Elizabeth has worked on Predictive Analytics projects for numerous national retailers. Her background includes site-specific research for large-format retailers both in the United States and Canada. Prior to her work with PBBI, Elizabeth spent two years in the financial industry, and attended the University of California Los Angeles where she earned degrees in Mathematics/Economics and Environmental Studies.
Eric Steckling, Client Services Consultant, Predictive Analytics, joined Pitney Bowes Business Insight (PBBI) in April 2007. He has over 5 years of experience in geographic analysis and site selection. Eric’s background in location research includes site-specific research for the restaurant, retail, and healthcare industries. While at PBBI, Eric has worked on Predictive Analytics projects for numerous national retailers and has developed a specialty in sales transfer analysis. He began his career in 2004 after attending Western Michigan University where he earned Bachelor of Science while studying Geographic Information Systems and Business.
Gary Faitler, Senior Client Manager, Predictive Analytics, has over 20 years experience in retail site selection and marketing research. One of the original veterans of Thompson/MapInfo, he rejoined Pitney Bowes Business Insight after a 4-year hiatus working on the “client side.” From 2001 until 2005, Gary headed up the research department for Retail Ventures Inc., parent company of DSW Shoe Warehouse and Filene’s Basement, overseeing the site selection and consumer intelligence.
Currently, Gary continues to work on the Home Depot account, overseeing development of their real estate predictive models. In addition, he oversees PBBI’s real estate consultation services and model development for Famous Footwear, OfficeMax, Duane Reade, and Rexall Canada.
Jackie Doyle is the current editor of the Pitney Bowes Business Insight Strategy & Analytics Blog. She is the Operations Manager for Americas Services, PBBI and has over 12 years of experience in the Services Industry, specifically retail consulting. She has been a key client manager for the Home Depot team for several years, developing a strong client/consultant relationship. Her focus has been understanding the client’s needs and developing a solution for their internal structure. She began her career in 1997 with Thompson Associates, after attending Cleary University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Leslie Nogue is the Product Marketing Manager for the Strategy & Analytics Portfolio at Pitney Bowes Business Insight. Leslie joined Pitney Bowes Business Insight through the acquisition of MapInfo Corporation in 2006. Nathanael V. Evans, Senior Manager of Modeling Services for PBBI, directs the company’s efforts in statistical analysis, location modeling, and market research. Under his direction, the Strategy & Analytics modeling team develops solutions for market optimization and site forecasting using a variety of techniques, including regression analysis, automated analog approaches, and CHAID/CART. Nat’s career in location and market research includes many engagements within the retail, restaurant, home improvement, real estate, and financial services industries, meeting frequently with clients to assess their market research, real estate and data mining needs. He began his career in 1997 with Thompson Associates, after attending the Michigan State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree and completed additional graduate-level coursework.
Sebastien Rancourt is a Product Manager at Pitney Bowes Business Insight. Sebastien has joined PBBI (MapInfo) in 2001 and has held positions in Technical Support, Sales (Analytical Consultant) and Product Management. Sebastien is responsible for the Canadian data offering including demographic, segmentation, business, streets data as well as geocoding.

Shawn MacDonald, Principal Consultant, Predictive Analytics, joined Pitney Bowes Business Insight (PBBI) in March 1997. Over his career, he has worked with a host of restaurant clients, as well as various supermarket chains and non-traditional retailers. In performing more than 250 field analyses, Shawn has gained intimate knowledge of numerous markets across the United States. He holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Biology and Economics from the University of Michigan – Dearborn, as well as a Master of Arts in Social Science from Eastern Michigan University.
Steve Seabury is a Senior Product Manager at Pitney Bowes Business Insight. Steve has product leadership responsibility for PBBI’s demographic and segmentation data portfolios. In that role, Steve has spent over ten years working directly with consumers of demographic information, across a variety of industries, in helping them solve critical business problems.
