Spokane Teachers Credit Union wins TDWI Best Practices Award for Customer Intelligence

Clarence Hempfield, Pitney Bowes Business Insight

We were very proud to learn that during The Data Warehousing Institute’s (TDWI) World Conference, Spokane Teachers Credit Union (STCU) will be awarded a Best Practices Awards.  Every year the TDWI reviews hundreds of use cases and, through its panel of independent judges, selects 11 companies which it believes have “demonstrated excellence in developing, deploying, and maintaining business intelligence and data warehousing applications.”

One of TDWI’s eleven categories is Customer Intelligence.  TDWI defines Customer Intelligence as “providing a 360-degree view of customers so that organizations can optimize customer interactions across all channels.”  The ultimate goal for winners in this category is to demonstrate the use of information from its data warehouse “to attract, enhance, and maintain customer relationships.”

Managing more than $1 billion in assets and with more than 74,000 members, STCU is the Inland Northwest’s largest and most successful credit union.  A core tenant of STCU’s mission is a commitment to building the best possible relationship with every member.  The organization realized that personalization was vital to effective customer service and retention.

STCU implemented PBBI’s Data Flow to combine all of the relevant customer data producing a catalog which contains detailed, current and relevant information on each customer.  STCU staff members were then enabled to have more intelligent interactions with its members by incorporating member profiles, data and preferences when transactions were initiated.

STCU successfully demonstrated its use of technology to develop actionable customer intelligence, which supports its corporate objectives to maintain and enhance customer relationships.

We are very proud of STCU’s accomplishments and we encourage you to read the case study for more information.
